Celebration and Thanksgiving at Strachur

Over 80 people joined us from Scotland and England for our Thanksgiving and Celebration event on Saturday 21 October at Strachur. It was a very special time of remembering and praising God for all that he has called us to do in Malawi “with love”. It was also a time to celebrate the many friends and partners who have been inspired to contribute skills, ideas, equipment and advice over the years, and it was great that so many of them could be there on Saturday. David Randall’s book To Malawi With Love, telling the story of the Trust’s work so far, sold like hot cakes.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed, from providing refreshments to organising the audio visual equipment, to those who recounted some of their memories to the gathering. But it was not all about the past: The Raven Trust has sown many acorns and their work continues. And while our container service has now ended, The Raven Trust continues — to focus on the eye-care work started in 2005. Three eye clinics, at Ekwendeni, Livingstonia and Embangweni, are in operation, but there’s much yet to do to establish optical and medical services fully at these places.

John Challis OBE has retired form the trustee board, as have Iain MacPhillimy and Cathie Montgomery. Sue Challis remains on the board, now joined by Sue and John Kevan. Sue K heads up the “Focus on Malawi” work.
