We have been shocked to learn of the recent death of Alan Laverock, the founder and leader of The Bananabox Trust, which sends donated goods to Malawi for the use of mission churches and their associated institutions. (Update: see below for funeral details.) Alan was a former trustee of The Raven Trust, and we have been grateful for his advice and the benefit his local knowledge in Malawi right up to very recently.
And we are of course very grateful for The Bananabox Trust itself, which handles all our despatches to the hospitals and clinics in Malawi.
For more about Alan and the wide range of development activities he has initiated in Malawi, you can read this tribute to him on the Scotland Malawi Partnership website.
We understand that the Bananabox’s Dundee depot is currently closed until further notice and so The Raven Trust will not be able to despatch any equipment bound for Malawi for the time being.
Our thoughts go to Alan’s family and friends, and to the colleagues and volunteers at The Bananabox Trust and Bananabox Plus in Malawi…
May Hope sustain you,
Friends surround you,
And God’s love give you strength.
