We’ve just heard great news from The Bananabox Trust that their container despatches to Malawi will resume in September 2026. This service, essential to us (and many other charities) and which we have used for many years, was halted following the sudden death of their founder, Alan Laverock, in November 2025.
They have announced that the new service will be a joint effort between The Bananabox Trust and The Scotland Malawi Partnership (SMP), with a view to handing over the operation to SMP in the long term. It will operate from a new storage site, to be based in Bathgate, West Lothian.

This news means that we can start to plan despatches from Colchester to Malawi. A big “thank you” to all involved up there in Scotland who are making this happen!
